Three Kinds of It
Three Kinds of It focuses on form, function, and their interplay. The three ‘rings’, arranged in such a way that they cannot be worn, each carry a different Please Do Not Touch. Like Rubin’s Vase, where one aspect disappears when you focus on the other, I aim to explore the balance between ‘jewellery’ and ‘sculpture’, and between ‘language’ and ‘decoration’. This creates a situation in which it is difficult to achieve both form and function simultaneously. This work is inspired by jewellery that has been turned into exhibits in museums, which are no longer meant to be worn.
Three Kinds of It, 2025. Approx. H25 × W30 × D30 mm. Brass. Unique edition.
